Role responsibilities

  • Develop Java application features from documented requirements and technical direction.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs, service logic, integrations, and supporting utilities.
  • Work with databases, queries, migrations, and data validation under team guidance.
  • Write readable, maintainable code that follows project structure and naming conventions.
  • Add basic tests and verify changes before handing work back for review.
  • Debug defects using logs, reproducible steps, and careful analysis.
  • Participate in code review and respond to feedback with clean revisions.
  • Document implementation notes, assumptions, setup steps, and known limitations.
  • Follow secure coding basics for input validation, authentication, authorization, and error handling.
  • Avoid exposing secrets, credentials, customer data, or internal configuration in code or logs.
  • Support integration with web frontends, backend services, cloud systems, and internal tools.
  • Use Git branches, commits, pull requests, or equivalent workflow as directed.
  • Communicate progress, blockers, estimates, and testing status clearly in remote work.
  • Refactor small code areas when it improves readability without changing unrelated behavior.
  • Learn existing codebases before making changes that affect shared application behavior.

Basic qualifications

  • Associate degree, three-year degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent software qualification.
  • Core Java knowledge, object-oriented programming, collections, exceptions, and basic concurrency.
  • Familiarity with Spring, REST APIs, JSON, HTTP, and backend application structure.
  • Basic database knowledge, including SQL, schema concepts, and data validation.
  • Working knowledge of Git and ability to follow a team development workflow.
  • Ability to read requirements, ask clarifying questions, and write implementation notes.
  • Awareness of secure coding basics and safe handling of secrets and user data.
  • Comfort working remotely with disciplined updates, testing notes, and delivery ownership.
